| Customer Reviews: This is the guide to get if you really want to get to know your Mac June 17, 2010 Nathan Andersen (Florida) I've been using Macs for years and thought I was pretty proficient. When I upgraded to my latest Macbook Pro, and to Snow Leopard, I thought it'd be nice to get to know the OS better. David Pogue lays it out clearly and well, and I found out things I could do that I never even considered and that have now become a part of my regular repertoire. First of all there are the shortcuts. For so many functions, it's just faster to key a command than to find it on the appropriate drop down menu and click. This book lays them all out according to the various tasks you might perform on the Mac, and after just a few days working through a chapter a day, it has literally changed my whole approach to Mac-based projects.
The book introduced me to several other Mac OS X features I'd never used, and never seen a use for, such as "Spaces," which is now something I couldn't live without. I do my browsing in one space and my video editing in another, and my word processing and spreadsheet work in another, and it's easy to shift back and forth between all of these tasks without cluttering my windows.
Highly recommended for new Mac users, or for veterans who, like me, have never fully appreciated the attention to detail and the range of resources available on the Mac OS X, especially Snow Leopard.
Useful & clear April 15, 2010 S. Latendresse (Quebec Canada) What I consider the classic manual. I've always found that the Missing Manual series was clear and simple to consult, just enough advanced features without going overboard with details; this iteration is the same. I love that Mr. Pogue added flags for new Snow Leopard features, so we can skip to those parts if we had the previous manuals.

As a brand new owner of a Mac, I needed a good informative manual. This book is terrific ... there is not one thing I have looked up yet that it hasn't explained in great detail - and you don't have to be a computer "geek" to understand it! I would recommend it highly!
