5 out of 5 stars spore: what a great game   May 17, 2010

we bought spore for our grandson who plays computer games constantly. we wanted something a little less mindless and maybe not more engaging, because he's already over engaged with the point and smash games, but something that might catch his imagination and develop problem solving and projection thinking. he loves spore and the other games have fallen behind. we are pleased, to say the least. its lively, complex, great graphics, the machine carries the game without hesitation or gaps. its great. we highly reccommend spore for and family which enjoys storytelling.

1 out of 5 stars EA is playing a dangerous "GAME" !!!   June 28, 2009
TRIPOD (Quebec Canada)
If it's the new way for EA to treat their customers,
I'll simply stop buying their products !

I'm a 60 years old grand father with grand children
and I don't intend to buy a new game each time the
kids start a new game or change their name or settings
in the game ! I'm not a pirate, I pay for my games !
I also take good care of my computer and I really DON'T
NEED EA TO INVADE MY PC EITHER !

Furthermore, we have hundreds of games (OLD and NEW) and
sometime we like to get an OLD one an play it again and
THE WAY EA IS ACTING NOW, THAT WON'T BE POSSIBLE ANYMORE !

EA aren't out there making CHARITY, we are paying VERY
good money for a GAME WE HOPE WILL LAST MORE THAN A MONTH !
EA people are thinking with their WALLETS NOT THEIR BRAINS,
LET'S GIVE THEM A RIDE FOR THE MONEY !

Personnaly, I'll JUST BOYCOTT THEM until they come back
to earth and I hope that MANY WILL FOLLOW THAT PATH !

WE DON'T NEED EA TO LIVE BUT THEY NEED CUSTOMERS TO SURVIVE,
JUST LET THEM PLAY THEIRS GAMES ALONE FOR A WHILE !

That GAME seems fun but WE WON'T BE ABLE TO PLAY IT IN TEN YEARS !

SORRY !!!

3 out of 5 stars Great game   May 11, 2009

First of all i'd like to say this is a great game. Pretty much the first of it's kind, although it was preceded by the sims series, i have had alot of fun spending hours playing with my zebears (zebra-bears) on my 2.2 intel core2duo macbook (gma x3100 graphics with 1g ram) and the Role playing factor in this game is just amazing. Some of the stages get a bit repetitive, but the space stage is simply incredible. But, this game is almost ruined by the anti-piracy. Although running it on a mac doesn't have near the negative effects a pc does, it's still an annoying little add-on to a great game. On the mac side of SPORE, the DRM runs within the game, and solely within it. This means that as soon as u delete, uninstall spore the file will be deleted and it will not leave any spyware residue. All in all, i think spore is a great game and a must-buy if you're running a mac OS but a pass for PC users.

5 out of 5 stars Its just a game...   March 28, 2009

About a month ago, I got this game. At first I was skeptical because I am not into video games, especially because a lot of them are shooter games.

To my great surprise, I was actually having fun playing Spore.
Not only being fun, this game stimulates problem-solving skills and creativity through your creature's devolpment.

This isn't one of those games were you have to be super competitive to reach the top-you can have fun and still get there.Which is why it is rated for kids 10 and up...if you're an adult, you need to keep this in mind-an average child's attention span is usually shorter than that of a average adult.Which would explain that to some, the story/level seems incomplete and the eco-crisis or wars so frequent and annoying.

As for all the safety features that have been installed, it was a time coming, don't you think?

Thanks for reading,
Cheers :)

1 out of 5 stars A missed opportunity   February 12, 2009

EA progammers have obviously done a terrific job and graphics are great. Creatures and the creature creator have reached a new level never seen before in RT games. Competitors will have no other choice than to match this quality to stay in the "game".

The problem is the gameplay, actions, goals, challenges, replayability... There is virtually none. It is BORING and even ANNOYING. Click and eat a fruit, danse, sing, wander in the prairie and burn calories...

What a missed opportunity!

EA should reward their technical team and give their conception team their 4%.
