Bleeding big book. June 4, 2010 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The book and the pics are wonderful and it's great to pass on a rhyme that I loved on from my childhood to my daughter.
The 2 star rating is really for me - the book is nearly half a metre square which is too large to practically read with a child on your lap or even in the same room - next time I'll read the product specs properly and buy some thing of appropriate size.
INNAPROPRIATE FOR YOUNG CHILDREN May 13, 2010 marianna (Greece) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I found this book totally innapropriate for my son, aged 2 years, as you have to explain to very yound children the concept of death. I even found it innaproprite for my nephew aged 5. And why did the old lady died? Because her stomach bursted? That what will happen to us if we eat to much? This book leaves the children more troubled (and not in a good way) than pleased.
Very good fun April 19, 2010 Dean Palmer (London, England) Although a slightly macabre whiff to this story it is great fun and has all the animals that children like to see and point out - well our 15 month old anyway.. With the bonus feature of holes in the pages - this is a very popular choice for bedtime.
Re-living childhood April 14, 2010 I. Smith (UK) I had this sung to me as a child and sang it to my daughter too. When I saw there was a book on it, I didn't hesitate to buy it and I am glad I didn't - my 2.5year old absolutely adores the book. Having had it sung to her and now being able to see illustrations about it has delighted her immensly. She walks around with the book as if she might lose it if she puts it down. A great hit!! and my 10month old loves it too - especially sticking his fingers in the hole of the book!!
Fun for all the family March 31, 2010 C. A. Russell (Salisbury UK) Beautifully produced old favourite. Much loved by the next generaltion. A real classic.
