Easier than I expected February 26, 2010 Duarte Fernandes (Vila Real de Santo António, Algarve, Portugal) I got this to work with fewer problems than I antecipated. I intend to use it mainly to record gameplay from my console, and by following the instructions available in countless videos on youtube, it was rather simple. The main drawbacks I see is that it can't record in HD and that the output video with the program supplied is only .VOB. Nothing much to do about the HD quality of the capture, but the video format can be easily converted, there are even free converters out there that do just fine.
Overall, it gets the job done, and for the money it costed, i'm satisfied.
pinnacle dazzel dvd February 25, 2010 V. Lumsdon (uk) this doesnt come with instructions that would help you to set it up.even with help it is still hard to set up so we give up!
Issues using with Xbox February 22, 2010 Steve South Wales (South Wales UK) Bought this for my son and after a lot of fiddling discovered that due to position of connectors on oldish xbox it was physically impossible to connect this and have vdu display on tv. Could only see action on his connected laptop. His xbox is about 2 years old. A friend bought an xbox for xmas and his doesn't have same problem.
Good Hardware, Bad Software February 18, 2010 J. Sawkins I use this dazzle to record gameplay from my PS3 console. The quality itself is quite good, however if you are planning to record from a gaming console, you will also need 3 Unbranded Gold plated splitter RCA plug to 2 x RCA sockets 760.284and a Canon STV150 3 phono to 3 phono AV cable
This is where the Dazzle falls a bit, this version comes with no video editing software, it also saves your recordings as a dvd file type, which will not be accepted in software such as windows movie maker, to be able to convert it you will need to download a program that will convert the file type to something you can work with.
And if you are going to use this dazzle to record gameplay, it can only record 50hz games, to be able to record 60hz games (Call of Duty or Halo) you will need to download am cap.
If your having trouble with any of this there are plenty of tutorials on youtube.
A very good product. Just be patient though. February 2, 2010 Peter Da Sonic Master (Bristol, South Gloucestershire, England. United Kingdom) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product records any games console you are in possession of. I have tested it on my xbox360, it works once you follow the tutorials on youtube to the letter. Patience is a virtue, however you will reap the benefits. I even tested it on my N64 that I still own and the quality was amazing. It will work on vista because that is what I own.
Here are a few recommendations to take into consideration:
1) Get a double ended video with audio leads.
2) Get 3 splitters. This product will not work without them.
3) If you plan to record on xbox360 and/or ps3 follow the youtube tutorials.
4) You need movie maker to compile your videos to a valid format to upload to youtube.
5) Video for xbox360 on testing was a bit laggy. Not due to connection. Try setting it to best quality always.
6) Get amcap to turn the picture to colour once you listen to a tutorial on youtube about the picture problem you might face.
7) Your computer might crash and go on blue screen. This isn't that big a deal. Just persevere.
8) The memory required is bigger than you would normally find but you can try compressing it into a good format like .avi before recording.
The big positive for me is that it works and even records voices of your friends on your xbox360 if you have your speakers set to both.
The product is very simple to use if you follow the advice given.
Once you get this product working properly you wouldn't pay for anything else just be prepared for a few snags.
